The West Branch Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology (IFET-WB) successfully concluded its participation in the **National Science and Technology Week (SNCT)**, an annual event coordinated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). This year, under the national theme **"Planet Water: Ocean Culture to Face Climate Change in My Territory"**, IF West Branch brought the debate to the local reality.
For three days, the main campus was transformed into a true hub of knowledge. The program included **more than 50 innovation projects** developed by students from technical and undergraduate courses, in addition to **20 workshops and mini-courses** open to the external community, registering a 40% increase in participation compared to the previous year.
Project Fair Highlights
Among the projects that most caught the attention of the public and the evaluation committee, the following stand out:
- **Hydric Monitoring System:** An IoT (Internet of Things) device created by Electrical Engineering students to measure and alert on the level of nearby rivers and reservoirs in the Industrial Zone, contributing to flood prevention.
- **Urban Sustainability App:** An application developed by the Systems Analysis and Development course that maps selective collection points and geotechnical risk areas in the city.
- **Food Innovation:** Research by the Food Science course on the integral use of regional fruits for the production of nutritious and sustainable snacks, minimizing waste.
The General Director of IFET-WB, Prof. Dr. John Smith, highlighted the importance of the initiative: "SNCT is not just an event; it is the materialization of our commitment to applied research and regional development. Seeing the community, especially basic education students, interacting with high-level technology projects motivates us to continue investing in science."
Next Steps
The projects selected at the Project Fair will represent the Institute in regional and national scientific showcases. The Pro-Rectory of Research and Innovation is already preparing the publication of the event proceedings, which will be available on the Server/Staff Portal.
