The Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the West Branch focuses on the **expansion, democratization, and internalization of quality professional education**, promoting social inclusion and academic training aligned with the needs of urban and rural communities. This includes the integration of different levels of training and areas of knowledge to develop a vision of social responsibility and improve institutional performance.
Furthermore, the institute is dedicated to **citizenship training** based on ethical values, going beyond preparation just for work. The **IFWB is present throughout the state of Roraima** through its **5 campuses and the Rectory**.
Federal Institutes are institutions of higher education, basic and professional, multicurricular, international, and multicampi, specialized in offering professional and technological education in different teaching modalities, based on the combination of technical and technological knowledge with their pedagogical practices, in the form of **Law No. 11,892/2008**.
They hold administrative, patrimonial, financial, didactic-pedagogical, and disciplinary autonomy and, for the purpose of evaluating and regulating the provision of higher education courses, are equivalent to universities. They also act as accrediting and certifying institutions of professional skills, in accordance with the same law.
The IFWB is part of the **Federal Network of Professional and Technological Education**, is linked to the Ministry of Education, has the legal nature of an **autonomous agency** (autarquia) and has full autonomy. It is specialized in offering professional and technological education, combining scientific, technical, and technological knowledge with pedagogical ideals with a historical-critical basis.

The institution offers a wide range of courses, from technical professional education to postgraduate and FIC (Initial and Continuing Training).
